Sole Crown Housing team specialises in working with young people leaving care aged 16 to 18. We also support care experienced young people aged 18 to 25.
We provide safe quality accommodation for our young residents so they can positively engage with the services provided.
We support our young residents to develop resilience, confidence, capacity and enhance their individual skills, ultimately empowering them to live a successful and positive life.
Brockhurst House provides a therapeutic community where our young residents can take stock of their journey so far and focus on how they want to move forward positively.
About Sole Crown
We work with vulnerable young people aged 16 to 25,
specialising our care for those from black, mixed
heritage and unaccompanied asylum seeker
backgrounds, who are:
- Involved with either social care or youth
offending service - Transitioning from looked after child, to leaving
care status. - Involved with risk taking or dangerous behaviour
- Experiencing trauma, PTSD or CPTSD
- Returning to the community from YOI/HMP
custodial term on ROTL - Have multiple vulnerabilities including, but not
limited to, cultural identity, mental health,
substance use - Furthest away from education, employment and
training opportunities

How We Work
We understand that each young person presents with individual issues. Those issues need to be addressed to help them settle into a residential placement. So that the placement can become a ‘home’, the young person can engage with the service, and ultimately become empowered to live a successful and positive life.
We start by understanding each young person’s adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and how it’s influenced their behaviour. We then utilise a combination of trauma informed practice and motivational interviewing in the form of ‘informal chats.’ We use these chats/ keywork sessions to ascertain a young person’s feelings, attitude, motivation level, and emotional state in order to move them forward. We then use peer to peer mentoring & support to develop:
Emotional Intelligence for Maturation, Problem Solving, Budgeting, Numeracy, Independent Living & Life Skills, Mental & Physical Health Wellness, Positive Identity & Self Image, New Skills Capture 'Construction, Cloud Computing..
Following the principles of evidence-based practice and continuous improvement, and using the Ofsted framework, we keep abreast of all new developments in the sector, including the transition from Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS) to Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS). Our holistic wrap around programme embeds individually tailored support, gang exit, resettlement, implementation and delivery. Via a single point of contact with practical guidance, structure, and a meaningful use of time in built. Our focus at Sole Crown Housing is to empower each young person, helping them move towards a better life for themselves. When considering a referral request our service asks three questions of a young person, their social worker and/or personal assistant:
